Hello everyone, I am quite sorry that I was too busy travelling around the countryside lately due to the festive season and all my family members were all present. During Christmas, I took my family to visit the very well known market called the Old Market of Sarm Shook. This market is located around 35 Km. north of the city of Supanburee on the way toward to Chainart Province. I have heard about this market for so long but I can't figure out what will it look like. So I will try to bring you along the journey and see how you can enjoy the trip along with me.
Supanburee is a province located on the north to northeast of Bangkok. The city used to be an old capital of Thai people before the Ayuthaya era. The city or province as most of the people called is famous for the small city where the land is rich with gold as the city is translated by words. In the past, many Thais enemies wanted to occupy this piece of land because of the ability to harvest all year long. If you can not quite figure out, please think of the state of Iowa in the America where the middle east millionaires had to come to purchase the soil back to their country. There are so many history in this province but people seemed to forget or not try to remember.
This picture is the shrine of the Luck Muang God. At first, I think that it is the shrine of the Luck Muang( the first mile stone of the city ). But I was wrong, this is the shrine of the God named Luck Muang. They are two pieces of stone with the figure of god sculpted or we can say these are the bask reliefs like the one in Ankor Wat. There is a legend that these two pieces of stone had floated upstream to where this shrine is today. Many people of Supanburee had gathered money to build this shrine so they could come to perform their religious activities. Today, there is a brand new museum called the Museum of the Chinese Descendents. Everybody should take time to visit. It is worth for your time....I can guarantee it.
Besides these two special places, there are many interesting places in Supanburee province. The food is excellent and reasonable price. The local is very friendly and they are eager to show you their town.
